In the territory of the national park there are tracts with warm radon springs, where huge willow trees grow. Radon waters are considered curative and help people heal from many diseases. On one of the tracts of Kosbastau there is a 700-year-old willow tree, its branches in the form of thick trunks rest on the ground, and several people can embrace the tree, holding hands. The tree is considered sacred and its spoilage is said to bring death. According to legend, in the 12th century, the formidable Genghis Khan rested under this willow tree with his army during his campaign to Central Asia.
