SNNP "Altyn-Emel"

The State National Natural Park “Altyn-Emel” was created in 1996 to preserve the unique natural complex of the Zhetysu region. Popular tourist sites located in the Altyn-Emel State National Natural Park include the “Singing Dune,” the Katutau and Aktau mountains, the Saks burial mounds of Besshatyr, and the Sh.Ualikhanov spring. The park is home to 634 species of plants, 41 of which are rare, and 27 are endemic. Of the animals living in the park, 56 species and 40 species of birds are listed in the Red Book of Kazakhstan.
