Central Mosque “Iman”
The construction of the Taldykorgan Central Mosque “Iman” was initiated in April 2007 by the regional akim Serik Abikenuly Umbetov after a sacrificial offering was made at the site of the current mosque and after the reading of the Quran, a stake was driven into the ground. The regional akim said, “Finally, we have started a good deed, let’s complete it to a level that pleases the eye and brings satisfaction.”
The land for the mosque belonged to Myrzabek Duysenbinov, who was well-known and respected in our region and the country. Myrzabek Duysenbinov donated his plot of land for the construction of the mosque. A public fund “Uran” was established, which carried out the financial work for the entire construction of the mosque. Residents of the district and the city, including all residents regardless of nationality, race, and even religious status, actively participated in the construction. Thanks to such readiness of the people, the construction of the “Iman” mosque was completed in 2014.
The “Iman” Mosque has three floors. The lower floor houses a library, cloakroom, and doctor’s office; the second floor includes a prayer hall for men, a prayer hall for women, a marriage room, a room for mosque imams, and a Quran reading room; the second floor of the madrasa contains lecture halls and a computer class. The prayer halls have a carpeted area of 1180 square meters, brought from Turkey. The height of the main dome of the mosque is 40 meters, and its width is 20 meters, with an interior space of 500 sq m. The height of the dome is 40 meters, which signifies that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was given the prophecy when he was 40 years old. The mosque has two towers, each with a height of 63 meters, symbolizing the age of our Prophet (peace be upon him).
The mihrab of the mosque and the interior of the dome are decorated with gold mosaics featuring verses from the Quran. The mosaics were made in Italy.
The interior and exterior of the mosque, its columns, floors, and stairs are covered with colored marble and gray granite. In front of the mosque, there is a fountain and a flower bed, with spotlights and lanterns illuminating the surroundings at night.
About 2500 people can freely perform the namaz in the mosque during Friday and holiday prayers, and in summer, about 10,000 people can perform the namaz.
