Historical and Local History Museum opened its doors in 1974 and since that time has been adding to its collection, telling about the history of the incredible region called Zhetysu (Semirechye).
The museum has a collection of archaeological finds in the form of bronze cauldrons, clay vessels and other items dating back to the Stone, Iron, Bronze and Middle Ages. There is also a collection of stuffed animals that live in the region, various photographic materials, documents, manuscripts, utensils, musical instruments, maps, including the location of conservation areas, fishing and hunting farms. In total, the Museum of History and Local Lore has about 27,000 exhibits located in 5 halls:
Nature of Zhetysu;
Life and culture of Kazakh people;
Ancient and medieval history of the region;
Zhetysu (Semirechye) in the Soviet period;
Independent Kazakhstan.
Since 1993 the museum has been named after Mukhamedjan Tynyshpayev – historian, public figure, participant of design and construction of Turkestan-Siberian highway and engineer.

For adults: without excursion – 500 tg. with excursion – 600 tg.
Excursion for a group of 1 to 10 people – 1000 tg.
Students and pensioners: with excursion – 400 tg, without excursion – 300 tg.
For schoolchildren: with excursion – 250tg, without excursion – 200tg.
For preschoolers: with excursion – 250tg, without excursion – 200tg.
Cognitive games: 500 tg
Video shooting: 5 000 tg.
Free services are provided to veterans of World War II, disabled warriors of the Afghan War, disabled children and orphans.
