KHORGOS – INTERNATIONAL SHOPPING CENTER
The world’s only International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation “Khorgos” – international shopping center is an important point of the whole reviving Great Silk Road.
ICBC “Khorgos” is a complex of trade, economic, investment cooperation, as well as tourism development, consisting of Kazakhstani and Chinese parts, located on the border adjacent territories of the two countries.
ICBC Khorgos works daily from 7:00 to 19:00, however, baggage collection points accept goods until 17:30, and shopping centers of the Chinese side work until 17:30 Almaty time.
The cost of the ticket is 3500 Tg, which includes bus fare to the border zone after passing the border control, luggage 31 kg, hand luggage 5 kg. The ticket for 7000 tg provides the same services, but with priority escort in the green corridor when passing the border at the entrance and exit from the ICBC.
The distance from the city of Taldykorgan is about 320 kilometres. There are three ways to reach Khorgos ICPS Khorgos: by car, by train to Altynkol station or as part of a tour group for one, two or three days.
There are hotels located on the Chinese part of the Khorgos ICCC.
Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan need to have an ID card to visit the Khorgos International Centre for Sightseeing, for non-residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan - a foreign passport. Important: you must not have debts on taxes and other obligatory payments to the budget.
One buyer can carry goods weighing up to 31kg, not exceeding 1000 euros. If the buyer carries more than this, he/she will have to pay an additional state duty of 30% of the value of the goods, but not less than 4 euros per 1 kg of weight.
If the goods are indivisible (e.g. bicycles), it is allowed to exceed the weight by 5 kg (36 kg in total). You can take 5kg of hand luggage with you, the rest must be handed in at the baggage collection point.
In Khorgos there are markets and shopping centres Zhong Ke 1, Zhong Ke 2, Golden Port, Yiwu Mall and Jian Yuan. They offer consumer goods such as clothing, footwear, cosmetics, electronics, leather goods, dietary supplements, toys, kitchenware, tools, textiles and more. There is also the King Kong 1 trading house, which specialises in fur and leather goods.
