The «Nur» Mosque
The “Nur” Mosque is located in the city of Taldykorgan in the Zhetisu region. The mosque was built in 1998 by Mrs. Fahra, a citizen of the United Arab Emirates, through the Abu Dhabi Fund in Kazakhstan. Taldykorgan was built at a time when the city was experiencing an economic crisis, so it was named “Nur” to have God’s light shine upon it. The mosque can accommodate 250 people, with dimensions of 12×8 meters in length and width, and 11×9 meters in height. The dome of the mosque has a diameter of 10×3 meters. There are four smaller domes at the four corners of the mosque, each with a height of 6.9 meters and a width of 12.8 meters.
The mosque has two floors. On the upper floor, there are four air conditioning systems installed at the four corners, and around the mihrab, verses from Surah Al-Baqarah (254, 255) of the Quran are decorated and engraved. The minbar is located in the corner of the mosque, carved from quality wood. On the right wall, there is a board with the times of the five daily prayers, a sound amplifier (speaker), and fireproof fans at the four corners.
On the lower floor of the mosque, there are prayer rooms for men and women, and a room for literacy education and reading the Holy Quran. The imam’s living room is also located on the lower floor, equipped with a modern telephone, fax, computer, table, and chairs. There are also rooms on the lower floor where the guards sleep.
In 2005-2006, the mosque was completely renovated, and its walls were decorated with white glossy tiles. A special automatic device is installed in the heating system. The mosque is surrounded by an iron fence. Four light-emitting lamps have been installed to provide light at night, and the doors and windows of the mosque have been replaced with modern plastic ones.
The courtyard of the mosque, which does not have a minaret, is fully enclosed and landscaped with willows, poplars, firs, apple trees, and flowers. Next to the mosque, there is a recently built toilet for men and women with hot and cold water, equipped with modern facilities. It is also equipped with modern audio amplifiers used for the five-time call to prayer (azan).
In the courtyard, at the entrance to the mosque, there is a plaque with a slogan on which various articles are published in newspapers and magazines.
