Kabanbai batyr (1692-1770)

In 1691, a boy was born in the family of batyr Kozhagul, who was named Yerasyl — “noble faithful”. As a teenager, he was ahead of many of his peers in physical development and received the nickname Narbala, that is, “a tall youngster”. In his youth, he performed a feat on the bank of the Zaisan, killing wild boars attacking people with a spear, after which his people begin to call him Kabanbai.

One of the main organizers of the liberation struggle of the Kazakhs against the Dzungars, the commander-in-chief of the united army of the Kazakhs, an undefeated fighter.Participated in all major battles with the Dzungars. For his outstanding achievements, the people nicknamed him “Khanbatyr” and “Daraboz”.
