Monument “M. Tolebayev”

The monument to the Kazakhstan composer Mukan Tolebayev was unveiled in 2013 in Taldykorgan. The height of the pedestal is 2.5 meters. The sculpture was created by a local architect and is made of bronze.

Mukan Tolebayev (1949-1960), an outstanding Kazakh composer, public figure, People’s Artist of the USSR, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR, and one of the authors of the anthem of Kazakhstan, was born and raised in the aul of Karashygan, Burlin-Tobin district of the Almaty region, and is buried in Almaty. In his short life, M. Tolebayev managed to create more than 100 musical works. His operatic works, cantatas, and oratorios attract particular attention. The opera “Birzhan – Sara” is the pinnacle of his creativity and the most notable achievement of Kazakh musical culture in the 20th century. His works are artistically and ideologically rich, highly intellectual, and possess a national flavor and a unique style.
