The sphere of tourism is the main direction of economic development of the region. According to the general monitoring data for 10 months, the number of tourists who arrived in the region reached 2 million people, of which 1.5 million came to the coast of Alakol. This became known during a briefing on the site of the JCC under the President of the RK with the participation of Beibit Isabayev, – reports the press service of the Akim of Zhetysu region.

According to the speaker, in order to develop infrastructure, the construction of roads “Taldykorgan – Ust-Kamenogorsk” (287-615 km), “Usharal – Dostyk” (180 km), “Lepsy – Balkhash coast” (0-27 km), “Almaty-Ust-Kamenogorsk-Lepsy-Aktogai” (0-110 km), leading to the coasts of Alakol and Balkhash, will be fully completed by the end of 2024. In addition, major repair of the road at the Altynemel Pass (45-68 km), medium repair of the Saryozek – Koktal (68-110 km) and Koktal – Zharkent (306-322 km) motorways has been completed. Last year major repairs were carried out at Usharal airport. Talgo” train service was opened in the direction Astana – Akshi. In addition, next year the construction of engineering and communication networks on the coast of Lake Balkhash will begin (cost – 7.9 billion tenge, in 2024 – 2.1 billion tenge). Construction of recreation areas and hotels will begin in 2025.

Also, in order to develop ecological tourism, a visitor centre worth 2 billion tenge was built this year on the territory of the Altynemel National Park. Project documentation is being developed for the construction of a ski and biathlon complex and the repair of the road to the Burkhan-bulak waterfall (LBC – 100 million tenge, Burkhan-bulak – 85.3 million tenge). The average repair of 6.8 km of road to the Shokan Ualikhanov Museum was carried out, and the reconstruction of the museum was completed. In Sarkan district, the average repair of the road to Zhasylkol lake (“Topolevka – Zhalanash cordon” (20 km, 281 million tenge), “Zhalanash cordon – Zhasylkol” (8 km, 150 million tenge) is carried out.
