The First Tourist Train from China Arrived in Zhetysu
On May 31, 2025, the first tourist train from the People’s Republic of China to Kazakhstan arrived at the Altynkol railway station in the Panfilov district of the Zhetysu region, following the “Xi’an – Almaty” route.
To mark this significant event, the Tourist Information Center “Visit Zhetysu,” in collaboration with the Panfilov District Akimat and JSC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy,” hosted an official welcoming ceremony for the delegation and provided comprehensive informational support.
A special tourism campaign was also organized for the guests from China, showcasing the key attractions of the Zhetysu region.
The delegation will stay in Kazakhstan’s southern capital, Almaty, for five days. A rich cultural and business program has been prepared in advance to ensure an engaging experience.
The delegation includes over 250 participants representing trade, culture, healthcare, tourism, and academia. The group is led by Xiao Qi, Deputy Mayor of the city of Xi’an.
The return journey of the tourist train is scheduled for June 5, 2025.
This project marks an important milestone in strengthening tourism and cultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.
